Mark O'Brien, Director
Bachelor of Management Studies, CA
Growing up on a dairy farm, Mark has always had a good head for numbers, which led him into his career as an accountant. After graduating from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Management Studies, he worked for a range of large and boutique accounting firms in Hamilton and Auckland.
Heading over to the UK for his Kiwi OE, Mark gained valuable experience as a company accountant in various commercial accounting roles.
Joining the firm in 2010, Mark now partners with Angela as a Director of Accounting Extra. Enjoying the technical side of things, he likes helping clients make sense of accounting software, while providing valuable business advice and guidance. Outside of work, Mark enjoys sailing, cycling and rolling up his sleeves for DIY projects around the house.

Colin Sheppard, Consultant
With a long-standing reputation in the accountancy field, Colin set up his first practice in 1966, specialising in taxation consultancy for farmers. This formed the basis of the practice, which became C G Sheppard and Associates in 2000, and Accounting Extra in 2014.
Passionate about his work, Colin enjoys the variety and challenges that accountancy offers and has acquired a wealth of experience in the field. Building strong client relationships has always been important to him, with many original clients still with the firm.

Jen Carter, Accountant
Bachelor of Management Studies, ACA
Growing up in a sporting family Jen later discovered she got a kick out of “making things balance” leading to a career initially in management and then accounting. A variety of both accounting and business roles in New Zealand and Australia has since given Jen an appreciation of the daily challenges businesses face and an understanding of where accountancy fits in the bigger picture.
Specialising in annual accounts, tax compliance and ACC issues for small to medium size entities, Jen enjoys working together with business owners on all aspects of their business. Away from work Jen loves heading out on to the hockey field, volunteering with her local Scouts NZ group and spending time with her teenage daughter.

Bachelor of Commerce, CA
Turi’s path into accounting was inspired by his high school accounting teacher, who taught him how to read financial statements to understand how a business was performing. Joining Accounting Extra in 2015, Turi specialises in annual accounts and GST returns.
